At university I am currently taking a course in ecological speciation. This may baffle those who have little to no experience of biology so I'll try and briefly describe it. In essence, I am learning about the biological processes which can lead to the formation of new species of animals. There are endless ways in which a new species can form, too many to go into which is funnily enough why it takes whole course to understand it!
Since starting this course I have really gained a major interest in this field of research. Some aspects of the course link in with what I did for my honours project really well, including the mean sounding subject of phenotypic plasticity. I would love to try and get into this area of research if I do go on to do postgraduate study (hopefully a PhD at some point).
On that subject, I am currently on the look out for postgraduate study as I currently do not have a clue what I shall be doing with my life in six months time (scary thought). I have been in contact with members of the staff at my university and hopefully in the next few weeks I shall either get accepted into a PhD or a masters course! Well done to all my friends and peers who have already gotten into courses for next year (especially my best mate Jamie, Kirsty and Claire). Good luck to all the other guys who are currently pursuing postgraduate study as well!
Thanks for reading!
